Ok I originally had an ethernet modem that would refuse to accept ports ... I had to telnet to get the ports forwarded , but that caused all sorts of problems. After complaining, the Airtel chap came here and replaced the modem with a newer ethernet modem that had a completely different firmware. Now this is good in a way, I can directly enter the ports in port-mapping feature that exists in the modem. However the modem itself is giving me some trouble, it tends to drop the dynamic IP if left idle... or for no reason at all. Then after about a minute it regains the dynamic IP and I can continue surfing. This is strange and I cant figure out why its happening. I just wanted to know if there is anyone with a modem that has this firmware, or have I been given an older modem?.

Well it turns out that the firmware was problematic... Airtel replaced my Yozan with a world class modem... D-Link-502T one of the most popular ADSL modems in the world. I'm thrilled 🙂 Now I have no more problems.
