Mine seems to be the worst of the lot!

There is no problem at the first hop. Its just that the router doesn't support ICMP. Most probably its a zte router? I have the same for a difference ISP and here as well the first hop is request timed out.

My router is TP-Link, but it indeed always seems to show timeout at the first hop.

@C3PO, it's worsening for me too!

Code:

Their own server. Wow.

That's awful man!!

Anyways, here's an update, one of their techs/enggs came home and told me there is an outage with their leased link provider. It is affecting nearly all of Pune. The provider? Airtel. And sure enough my Airtel VDSL connection has slowed down with ping times being 2x or more to Google DNS. The chap told me it will take about a day more to resolve. He also showed me an internal notice about the issue with their backbone (Airtel) link. So I guess we need to wait. I can imagine something has gone flaky with Airtel in some parts of the country.

If it's not confidential, care to share the content of that internal notic, things are going bad for many ISPs these day, I am curious other than heavy usage what else is burdening them down?

It is happening in the US too with many ISPS :O

Sorry bro, he showed me the notice online i.e. on his mobile phone. I didn't ask for a copy because it is an internal memo.

I also assume a large part of this is due to the current WFH measures announced by Corporates and the Govt.

I meant what it said in the memo?

Hopefully, now since the precedent of demand has been established the ISP infrastructure will be substantially upgraded

It was kind of like a form with the all the relevant info filled in..such as date, city, area, downtime expected, and reason for downtime. The true cause (tech) will be known only to Airtel.

YOU Broadband is using Airtel transit 🙄, earlier it used to show vodafone idea IP after 3rd hop but now its showing Airtel IP 125.16.144.73

@romil123 FYI, AS18207(YOU Broadband) peers(ipv4) with AS9498(Airtel) & AS55410(Vodafone). A network operator might use a different transit provider for shortest path, cheaper, traffic engineering etc.

Having said that, I would be very interested to see a traceroute/tracert from your connection to 155.133.232.98(AS32590 - Valve). Can you share that ? There is another thread where another user had complained about latency to the Valve network from AS9829. Btw, the issue is unrelated to your comment.

@swapneelp

Hello, I just bought YOU Broadband and I'm from Vadodara, Gujarat. I have been actually horified by YOU's routing. Which tracerouting Mumbai's server, the packets are going to Delhi first than Mumbai which is costing extra 20-30 ms ping which becomes significantly high in Singapore servers. I bought fiber just so that I can play Faceit as I play CS:GO a lot. But, I have been getting less ping in my mobile network (Airtel 4G) than YOU. Here is the visual traceroute to Mumbai Valve servers.

Someone help me solve this issue.

@arjunarora4212 It's open visual traceroute software.

Also I read the whole thread. @romil123, I can say that there is no alternate option than to wait as YBB is using shit routing in which wherever you live it's first travelling to New Delhi and than to your IP.
