they are all interrelated

See if anybody has a similar model to yours.

Get a binary file from it via this procedure>>

How to backup the firmware of Huawei MT882 or MT880

1) Install a TFTP Server on your computer (http://www.solarwinds.net/Download-Tools.htm)
Start it and let it run.

2) Access via TELNET to your router - Telnet 192.xxx.xxx.xxx

3) Login as superuser - your username and your password

username: admin
Password: admin

4) Do the next steps after being logged in telnet console

-->

--> console enable
Switching from CLI to console mode - type 'exit' to return

putting '//flashfs/image' to 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:firmware.bin'
TFTP file put completed successfully

The backup has been done if everything went properly.

Now on your folder C:\TFTP-Root there is the backup firmware file. You can rename it to your firmware version if you like...

Now you can try to tftp the binary file to your Modem. Note that this file image is in binary format and is much different from the *.xDSL file provided by huawei.

I am concerned about flashing the modem. ...... this is always risky business.You may loose the Hardware totally. Also the .Bin files are actually dumps of another modem. flashing with such a bin file may or may not do the job. For this you have to be extremely sure that the .Bin has been extracted from similar modem. Instead of using dumps (.bin) file if you can get proper image of the firmware that will be a lot helpful.Best of luck...mate. I hope you succeed. 🙂-pranKster.
