iPhone 4S is successfully working on Reliance CDMA network in India. It's not very easy to do for novice end users. Requires MEID registration and some tough programming. Only Call and SMS work as of now, no Data. The same iphone 4S with GEVEY 4S GSM/CDMA SIM Interposer works with any GSM network in India. 3G data works in GSM with this method.Cost of such MEID registered, programmed 16GB model is around 27-28K and for Gevey SIM interposer, extra Rs 3-4K.

There is only one iPhone. And the ones on eBay are not stolen items. Infact, a few sellers specialise in selling only cdma based stuff

As I said I have an unlocked iPhone an I m very sure that it will not work on CDMA network.

Remove microsim, ask reliance to register your phone. Besides that, you'd have no way of knowing.

No. Reliance does not do it officially for end users directly. There are certain reliable persons who have contacts in Reliance through whom it can be done. Still just registering MEID won't make it work. There is other programming like SPC unlock, PRL, Network parameters etc. involved which as i said earlier is not at all easy for the non tech savvy end user to do himself, particularly for iPhone4S.

What makes you so sure?

What makes you so sure?

Go to http://apple.com -> iPhone -> Buy iPhone -> Select an iPhone -> select a color -> Or get iPhone unlocked and contract-free

The unlocked iPhone works only on supported GSM networks, such as AT&T in the U.S. When you travel internationally, you can also use a micro-SIM card from a local GSM carrier. The unlocked iPhone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.

It will not work because it wouldn't be registered on vzw or sprint. Doesnt mean it cant handle CDMA.

I would like to ask another question since we talk about the iPhone 4S. Blackberry 9650 is also a world edition phone. I would like to buy one from US. A guy put up a ad in craigslist and he says its unlocked for both GSM and CDMA. If I buy this does it work in CDMA and GSM networks in india?

If it's unlocked, should work out of the box for GSM. For CDMA, MEID registration with operator in india + programming is needed. Still even after doing that, BIS (Blackberry Internet Services) won't work on it in CDMA.

i think this is silly question. pls forgive me. but i want to know about this.BSNL evdo also cdma tech. bsnl evdo give cdma sim. bsnl evdo will work in iPhone 4s?
