That non upgradability is a serious bummer. I mean, why disable that feature when you are already paying that much.
I had a friend of mine who got a previous gen gram laptop, upgraded his ssd to 1tb(5+5) and ram to 16gb(8+8) before leaving India. All done from Nehru place.
Ssd is upgradable as per comments on Amazon but non ram. Seriously they should have thought about that ssd can be connected through usb port so why can’t just provide ram option
I suggest to increase your budget and get M1 with student discount it comes at around 83k. At that price it's real value for money. My bro got it for web development and it's really good.
P.s: M1 is getting sold like hot cakes. Right now except Apple official store all other stores near my home in Bangalore out of stock and have wait time of 2-3 days to get laptop. Even apple website have delivery date of 15-20 days. Store ppl say its a fast moving product
Thats a whole other topic to explore... search for YouTube videos about it, but basically it is due to Apple switching the CPU to much more power efficiency ARM architecture and also tightly integration of various specialised modules for things like audio video encoding and decoding and even the RAM is tightly integrated.
Basically the majority of the parts are soldered together onto same chip so to speak.
Results in excellent battery life and at the same time superior performance.
Plus Apple is the major primary investor in TSMC which makes the best chips currently supplying Apple with tiny 5 nanometer level while others like AMD are still on 7nm.
Thumb rule : Before buying a laptop deeply study the repair/support manual. That will give you all the information about how easy it is to repair/upgrade and what all components you can mess around with. I went with Precision 7760 because of the solid upgradability.
Doesn't Samsung have a laptop with a Snapdragon processor? That should have similar battery life to the M1 Mac. But I am guessing Windows App ARM support is going to be quite poor
I had nightmare experience with HP when i used it last time. I think it was year 2006. Since then i used Dell and lenovo. But let me check this model as well
