I'm trying to do some investigation and find out rates ... but I have no clue who the ISP is. All I know is he has an "eth.net" email address and is in Chennai...Any help from you guys is really much apprecitaed!! Thanks in advance! 🙂Also, what are the boradband options for one living in Chennai?

Replying to the original post, and agreeing with the reply, yes, eth.net used to belong to DishnetDSL. It now belongs to Tata Indicom Broadband in chennai has two major playersBSNL's dataone, and Sify's baroadband. There is also a cable company who give broadband thru cable- "Hathway", this is available mostly in the areas of t.nagar and nearby, though i believe its slowly coming to the rest of the city.Iquara (spelling??), is also an option, though i've not heard favourable reports.I believe that Reliance is also offering it thru their fibre optic lines. Both Bharathi telecom and airtel are now also offering broadband. There must be a couple more out there, but these are the one's i've heard off.Hope this helps.-Computernut.

Did you all know Cable Operators are tying up with WebWorlds for the past 6 months or more. WebWrolds of Reliance have Broadband. Cable Ops tie up with them and are offering the Net at home at very good speeds. Packages start from 200 and end at 2000.

Reliance provides broadband in chennai for limited areas I belive.

Yes but the local cable walla is now offering Reliance broadband to ur house. These are fresh tie ups being done on the sly.

In my area, SIFY connxn also reaches ppl thru the local cable television. But many cable operators hesitate to go for that as the equipments are pretty costly. Now, who is the better relative of the 2?? dscan99 or his relative ?? 😛 After this free downloads offer of BSNL end in JUNE , and if u wish to stay online for all 24x7 , then no option remain other than going for SIFY UNLIMITED. But u'll hv a damn hell experience using SIFY. BESTOF LUCK !!! Wait for sometime till BSNL announces new tariffs and plans and later decide whether to go for DATAONE or anyother provider.
