The National Payments Corporation of India has given approval to WhatsApp to extend its payments service to 100 million users in the South Asian market.
Lol. 2GB file sharing. You gotta keep it forever on your phone to continue having access to it?
Also how does file sharing work on WhatsApp? If you share a 2GB file in a group with 100 people. And 50 of them download it. Do you upload the file 50 times?
I think what WhatsApp does is, it checks the file on the device of the sender every 30 days. If the file exists, it renews the file on the cloud for another 30 days. If the file is deleted from the device, then it gets deleted from the cloud after 30 days.
Here 30 days is hypothetical. So if you want to download after 2 months, then it will depend on the sender, if he/she have it on their device or not.
seems like something that is going to create an even bigger mess with whatsapp storage filling up phones of parents. it's not like they check the file size before clicking the download button. not to mention the mobile data usage of folks who exclusively use cellular internet.
