Earlier just by changing DNS or changing http to https would unblock sites, now it no longer works.

So is VPN the only option or any other trick?

Interesting! Anyway to run similar tool on complete network - maybe on openwrt router or Rpi?

Edit - I thought only Jio did DPI, didn't know Airtel was also involved in this shady practice.

For me, it's only an issue when browsing. I use SwitchyOmega as a proxy browser extension, it defaults direct for all routes and circumvents with proxy when needed, automatically.
  • Tho, you will need to import/add your own site list to it.
  • Oh, and you also will need your own proxy server.
This is a preferred method for me since I'm not allowed to use the DPI circumvention application during work hours other than that, I also do not like using VPNs.

Add blocked sites to a list and route traffic to addresses in the list over a VPN.

My two cents, zapret causes failure of secure connection establishment in Firefox for random websites. I would not recommend using it. Some games also seems to be affected.

the problem is the ip addresses change frequently for some sites.
Yes but in my setup, Addresses are added to the list with a 6hour expiry time. So, It works out reasonably well.

I just hit reload when I see connection reset on https, after 2-3 times it connects anyway.

Otherwise goodbyedpi, if that doesn't work, I just look for other sites frankly. Can't justify paying for a VPN I'd rarely use.

Force dns over https on browsers btw, select a dns provider don't leave it to auto.
