Can anyone please help with speed sufficient of broadband for Video Chat/Video conference to be used in Gmail, Skype or Yahoo messenger.
I wanted to know if 256 Kbps sufficient to get good (if not best) quality video broadcast or we need to get 512 Kbps?
I referred to previous threads https://broadband.forum/bsnl-broadband/839-video-conferencing/ and https://broadband.forum/broadband-india/22933-help-me-choose-broadband-video-chat/ but didn't get any satisfactory answers, so posting it again.

512K is the minimum both ways up and down for a decent experience..i have 384 K and i do get pixellations on skype..though one can manage with 256 K as well but 1 mbps is idealplease also keep in mind the route between u and the other person is also imp as VIdeo conf uses only a single stream so if the route is not good with packet drops or high latency then even a fast connex might result in a poor experience.
