what is the procedure for opting WI-FI ?should one has to get permission from the BSNL people for shifting? Also should they (BSNL) configure the modem or we can configure it with out taking it to them ?If it so is there any tutorials on hwo to configure particular made?

You need not ask permission from BSNL but your modem should be WiFi enabled. If not you can buy a router or modem cum router and configure it yourselves. Many use D-Link 2750U which cost a bit more than 2K. Post the model no. after buying. We may be able to help you.

or you could just buy a wifi router which does not have a modem and hook it up into the modem that bsnl gave you. this would be a cheaper option
