What is Sify Broadband's Shared Bandwidth?

Hi Guys i am new to this forum. I want to know what is this shared Bandwidth. Every other person tell me somthing else. I really want to know what it is excatly.

Well. Share bandwidth is like water supply. A colony gets a tanker full of water. It is allotted to all the houses in the colony. So the situation is like, the more the houses the less water each of them gets. Similarly, here, ISPs allot a particular bandwidth line to a group of consumers. Like a 64kbps line to a band of four users. If all of them are online using the net at full flow, each of them get around 64/4 that is 16kbps. If none of the other users is online, you get access to the full speeds of 64. This is the reason why surfing at nights is normally faster (unless you are on the same network as Bhinder )...Now coming to Sify, earlier they had a 48kbps line shared between 3 users I believe, so the min one got was 16kbps. Now the minimum is 32kbps... and I am not getting that :angry: Sify broadband got the unlimited bandwidth and unlimited time period connections only on shared lines...

Well , I have got a 6 month Unlimited 32 Kbps Package. But still i never never get anything above 7 kbps. So why at all they call it a 32 kbps package.

the 7kbps you mention is 7KBps...

the speeds in 32kbps is in kbps while the speeds you see on ur software is in KBps...

1 KB = 8 kb
32 kbps = 4 KBps

You are getting more than enough technically. I am getting 2.5 KBps on a 32kbps line which is around 20kbps. :angry:

Sify Shared is nothing else but a big fat lie!!Let me come back to the watertank-storyLets say.. me and 50 people are using water at 2 ~ 7pm... then i get 2.5kB/s Now..at night, 4am, i still get that 2.5kB/s ...at night!!!! u think at night there are still 50 people using water?This watersupply is capped on 2.5, no matter what time...I have seen it for 2 weeks now and its just liek that but!!!the past 3 days i did not download like i did before..and guess what... i get 7kB/s on times i normally get 2.5,... so.. i think they are just checking,manually or automatic , for heavy users and they cap them...its too obvious
