Depends who is "we" and depends on your audience. If "we" is Beam, then they probably have enough bandwidth: a public one should be connected with at least 1gbit/s - you couldn't really host it at home or anything, and a lot of webhost companies might get peeved if you took credit for their bandwidth (there's speedtest mini for both those applications).

I am waiting for the day when speedtest and pingtest both ditch flash and java completely.

not going to happen anytime soon simply because flash and java ensures that even outdated browsers can run it. html5 based speed tests are probably possible. pingtest? maybe not.

it is going to be painful to edit the signatures of people who do not bother to remove the images from their signatures manually. i wish folks here do it on their own.
