what are the packages of hayai broadband and when they are coming to kolkata?in kolkata we already have tough competition going on between these cable ispsWishnet broadband 512kbps unlimited Rs490Meghbela broadband 256kbps (12am-8am 2mbps) unlimited Rs400Alliance broadband 400kbps unlimited Rs499 Ortel broadband 512kbps unlimtied Rs450Blinknet broadband 512kbps unlimited Rs399 Sify broadband 384kbps unlimited Rs500Bsnl 256kbps unlimited Rs499Average kolkatans dont spend above Rs500 on broadband bill so we will be expecting a good pacakge with decent bandwith at a cheap rate so that middle class families like us can afford. people of kolkata don't have the habit of spending thousands on an unlimited connection. So hoping hayai comes in kolkata with some affordable package like HNS or Nivyah say 512kbps with night double speeds for Rs400 or something like that.sad that in my are only Alliance is present :wall:

been using Meghbela broadband for a while now and before that BSNL plan 750 and now eagerly waiting for Railwire to arrive in calcutta. Since Hayai is yet to start service it will be a while before roll out their services in Calcutta but i doubt that u will be getting prices for unltd connections within the Rs 500 bracket. I was happy with BSNL as i never had any speed or line related probs with them ever but switched to Meghbela coz of their 1.5 Mbps unltd connection. I had some prob with their login tool as it did not automatically reconnect but since i complained they put me on a direct always on connection so I no longer need to login.

yes meghbela is very good gives approx 1.5mbps on the upto 2mbps scheme and the rate is too cheap in the day u get 256kbps unlimted and night 2mbps at Rs400 and that too without any Fair Usage Caps. Bsnl and Airtel kolkata should learn something from these cable isps they have some managers with high qualification degree mba degree from a fancy university who knows nothing but to cheat customers and loose customers theoritically giving them to these small cable isp organizations who are gaining profit from these situation and thus are enhancing their market slowly meghbela , alliance and wishnet will be the 3 top players in market share in kolkata. Alliance already has over 38,000 broadband customers and all its customers are mainly those people who have surrendered either bsnl, airtel or tata because of stupid fup's in their high bandwith unlimited plans which dosen't apply to these cable isp companies. Airtel Tata might have highly qualified managers from top MBA colleges in India but they are purely stupid and foolish in marketing that's why they are implementing these foolish fup's. They know nothing what the ordinary people wants. If they arrange some packages which suits most of the common people they would have encountered a 20-30% extra profit. Note when Mr Maran increased BSNL's speed to 2mbps you guys might be knowing how the profit of BSNL increased that time and all the people surrendered their existing connections and went over to BSNL. Meghbela just started a year back and it was a very small company run by a man called Arindam and now the company has thousands of subscriberes in and around kolkata. So Airtel Tata Bsnl are nothing but big fools. How can a small company come and take away their customers though they have their great great managers sitting in their Air conditioned offices to manage their business successfully they have so much brains lol 😛 😛

the weird thing is that meghbela gets their bandwidth from Airtel and Tata and yet has better rates than them but then again one is a local player and the others national. As badboy above said it seems the local guys without any fancy degrees or any degree seems to be doing a better job than the ones without, but the ones with fancy degrees r hired to determine how to get more money without giving/spending much :/

Does meghbela broadband give service in Goa...??if yes then ill change my ISP(BSNL)

what are the packages of hayai broadband and when they are coming to kolkata?
in kolkata we already have tough competition going on between these cable isps

Wishnet broadband 512kbps unlimited Rs490

Meghbela broadband 256kbps (12am-8am 2mbps) unlimited Rs400

Alliance broadband 400kbps unlimited Rs499

Ortel broadband 512kbps unlimtied Rs450

Blinknet broadband 512kbps unlimited Rs399

Sify broadband 384kbps unlimited Rs500

Bsnl 256kbps unlimited Rs499

Average kolkatans dont spend above Rs500 on broadband bill so we will be expecting a good pacakge with decent bandwith at a cheap rate so that middle class families like us can afford. people of kolkata don't have the habit of spending thousands on an unlimited connection.

So hoping hayai comes in kolkata with some affordable package like HNS or Nivyah say 512kbps with night double speeds for Rs400 or something like that.

Perhaps you need to further read the other threads discussing the company.

We will not have any unlimited plans in this price or speed bracket - we're not interested in the sub-2mbit/s market at all, as we do not see any point in competing at this level, as you've just listed 7 other ISPs already in that space - what good would yet another one be? Because of this, our minimum speed for flat-rate services will start at either 5 or 10mbit/s, and our minimum price currently reflects that by starting at 2499.

We have some wireless plans with no speed cap (typically expected to deliver around 8mbit/s) with ranging from 5GB of data for 299 to 30GB of data for Rs649 and wired plans with no speed limits (up to 100mbit/s) where users pay only for data starting at Rs599 + data usage.

While it might seem "expensive" compared to the 256kbit/s unlimited options you have now, the value proposition is both that of speed and lack of FUP even at the speeds offered.

let them ^ (hayai) roll out services in mumbai..... first...

after I get my joining in TCS kolkata I can spend 2500 per month on a 5mbps unlimited with no caps 🙂 no expenses on girl friends or on smoking drinking required if I have such a high bandwith connection in home that too unlimited 🙂 :yahoo: The only one thing that satisfies my every thrust or mood is watching videos on youtube with no buffering 😀 and I think 5mbps is more than enough for it :yahoo:

I have good news and medium news:

Good news - at that price, it may now be 10mbit/s flat-rate.

Medium news - flat rate and unlimited are not the same. Although theoretically possible, it's unlikely that we can allow you to use the full 1.5 or 3 Terabytes per month that a 5 or 10mbit/s connection could offer you.

However, on the plus side, our "fair usage policy" is such that we expect you to use the connection in a responsible fashion and not saturate it 24/7.

However, if push comes to shove, there is every chance that we will have to implement traffic management during certain hours of the day in order to maintain a high quality experience - in our case it would be a last resort to put a "hard cap" or Fair Usage Policy on our flat-rate plans, but, if it's unavoidable then it's unavoidable and there isn't much we can do about it unless and until the the economics of wholesale bandwidth and building the network and all that sort of stuff fall in to our favour.

Last but not least, even with such a connection, I strongly recommend maintaining a social life - please do continue to have girl (or boy) friends, smoke, drink and go out and fulfill your other human desires. The Internet and youporntube should in no way replace these things.

In fact, you could even do what I used to do when I was younger: combine two (or all 3 if you can find a girl that likes gaming) and host LAN parties at your house - everyone brings their computer or laptop and plays the game du jour... in 2001-2 it was CS, later we had stuff like Wolf ET, Medal of Honour, and Far Cry.

hmm.....hahahahaI liked what/how you said it mcgarley. Its cool. I don't want to sound sombre though for lot of people these mediums TV, Video, Internet is the only reality. The disease of 'loneliness' which is/has been prevalent in the west has also being slowly becoming part of the Indian ethos/identity with breakage of joint families and 'my self' kinda thing. Sadly, I see the same happening all around me. That is one of the reasons for social-networking tools becoming so big.

Sadly, I see the same happening all around me. That is one of the reasons for social-networking tools becoming so big.

It's considered a mental illness in some countries (South Korea, in particular). From my point of view it's more addictive behaviour than loneliness, but it may also be a combination of the two.

Social networking tools + actually meeting social networking people in real life = awesome. Perhaps to combat the problem, meetups will have to be organized by Hayai for customers (there are already Twitter meetups in Mumbai which I attend some of the time).

And you will set up a website to enable this meetup. And the website shall be called barbaadi.com 🙂

Even though I don't know what it means, that domain appears to be taken. Probably we would just utilize something like meetup.com?

I've seen and attended events organized by companies both here in NZ and abroad - there is no reason we (as an ISP) couldn't set up various social gatherings, the incentive being that those coming along might win stuff like a month's account credit or 200GB of free data added to the account or something like that - of course, this is all post-launch 😀
