Chandigarh: Punjab Police sources say investigations indicate that boxer Vijender Singh could have experimented with drugs which he allegedly bought with his friend and national-level boxer Ram Singh from drug dealer Anup Singh Kahlon, who was arrested on March 3 in a major drug bust.

The police say though Vijender will be questioned soon, they do not believe that he knew much about the international smuggling ring that the arrested dealer was allegedly a part of.

Vijender denied ever using drugs and said he had no links with the drug dealer. The boxer is currently in Mumbai.

A car belonging to Vijender's wife was found parked outside Kahlon's house when the police raided it on March 3. They seized over 26 kg of drugs, including heroin, worth Rs. 130 crore in the raid. Vijendra has said he does not know how the car got there and has suggested that Ram Singh might have been using it.

Ram Singh, who was questioned by the police on Saturday, told television channels yesterday, "I had no role. I knew Kahlon for some time, he gave drugs to us as food supplement and later we realised it was drug. We took drugs 3-4 times, Vijender took drugs three-four times. When we realised it was drug we stopped using it."
Police sources claim that Kahlon has during his interrogation alleged that he met Vijender at least four times. Kahlon is believed to have begun spreading his drug network in India in 2009. An NRI of Canadian origin, he is allegedly known internationally in the drug cartel.
Vijender Singh won India its first boxing Olympic medal in 2008.

I am not sure. The news report says that he could be guilty of taking drugs. So, basically they do not have any concrete proof like a blood sample or whatever?
Just because he allegedly knew the guy does not make him guilty from any angle.
 
heroin is a killer drug.if viju is using it,it will show up from his face and his reflexes would be screwed but i do not see that.Another possiblity is he is peddling since drug dealers prefer vips as mules since they are not scanned strictly.
 
good case to target the relevant authorities which are responsible at airports instead of individuals.

The beleaguered boxer, who has been accused by the Punjab Police of consuming heroin, missed the two-day boxing trials in Patiala and will not be selected in the squad for the events in Cyprus and Cuba which serve as build-up events for the World Championships at Almaty, Kazakhstan in October.

Heroine isnt a banned substance , not a performance enhancing drug , he may not have been tested for heroine
