Anil Khera has been appointed as CEO of Bharat Business Channel (BBCL), the media arm of the Videocon Group, which is engaged in the television broadcast business, beaming TV channels directly into consumer homes. Khera would be heading the company's upcoming direct-to-home (DTH) venture in India.

The group which has just roped in former LG India boss KR Kim as the overall head of its consumer electronics business, is planning to invest close to Rs 1,000 crore over the next three years to roll out DTH operations. It is undertaking an internal restructuring, which would eventually decide the complexion of the organisation. Khera, till now, was heading the operations of brands Sansui and Kelvinator through the group's privately-held arm—Kitchen Appliances India.

Khera had been associated with the Sansui brand since its launch in the country and has led its growth from scratch to close to 9% market share of the highly fragmented conventional screen CTV market during 2007 calendar year. Sansui has been one of the key brands for the group and had been particularly strong in the television segment.

The DTH venture of Videocon will be under 'D2H' brand which is scheduled to start test signals by July. The full fledged launch is planned for August, 2008.
