USB port on MT882

Hi I have a BSNL broadband connection and i am using Huawei SmartAx MT882 modem with my laptop which has winxp pro. So far i have only used the ethernet connection. Can i use the modem even when there is not power? if i can use the USB port, will i still need power to use the modem? If no, then how can i do it? I have installed the necessary driver for it. Thanks for any response
 
WELCOME to broadbandforum.coXP Pro SP2 updated, tends to reject unsigned USB/devices / drivers. I could not use a Zyxtel USB modem.Connect the modem to USB port and if working fine, no problem. . I presume the laptop battery will keep your internet connection going if there is power failure. OR you have backup power ?
