unwanted upload and download when switching on modem on dataone

Whenever i am switching on my net,its internet LED starts blinking heavily and in my usage shows heavy download and upload value,even though i am doing nothing.i have installed zone alarm but still problem existing.also i have tried tcp view-but i am unable to stop the problem.......can any body have solution for this...............

Check applications/programs at Start up.May be some have auto updates selected.Start the system only.Press CTRL/ALT/DEL to open Task manager.Check applications and processes running.Then start the modem.See which new applications/processes start. to account for heavy d/l.

its mostly a virus or spyware.. get a good antivirus and antispyware update it and scan ..

Can you clarify ? Where exactly did you check the usage ?
