Haryana govt seeks Aadhaar number in admission forms
Though the Aadhaar number is not marked as a mandatory field, the parents’ name (as on Aadhaar) has been marked as mandatory. Similarly, the mother’s occupation and the parents’ annual income are other mandatory fields. It also asks for the religion, the category and the caste of the student.
The form has been circulated by the school through an email as an attachment stating that the “information being sought is not for the school records but for use by the government of Haryana”. It further said that it was to be filled by all parents from all Haryana schools.

Every student’s data in state can be tracked
Schools of the state have been informed to collect data of students from Class 1 to 12 and compile it by April 25. This data will be compiled under Student Data Management Information System (SDMIS) which will be used to track details of every student for the Child Tracking System (CTS) and keep a record of all documents digitally.

This data will include academic information, family details, examination, results, scholarship, achievement, attendance, disability, personal details and general information of every student. SDMIS will be under Unified District Information System for Education (U-DISE) which will cover all schools.

Aadhaar Mess: “Lets rechristen civil service as Indian Aadhaar Service,” says Nirupama Rao, ex-foreign secretary
In a tweet, the former Foreign Secretary, said, "In Aadhaar, every tuppenny bureaucrat has discovered a new instrument of harassment. Each of these petty tyrants finds ever expanding applications of Aadhaar. They have the hammer, and they have to use it. 'Dear Govt, lets rechristen the civil service as the Indian Aadhaar Service."

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) officials, however, said Aadhaar is not proof of citizenship. “Rather, it is only an enabler for identification. For example, once issued with a card, ‘A’ cannot claim to be ‘B’. Whoever has a proof of identity and address, and has lived here for the preceding 182 days, is enrolled. We capture biometrics too, and after all this a unique identity number is issued. Our duty ends there,” an official said.
