Hi all,This is my first post! Hope you guys can help me solve my problem!I finally got my Triband DSL router today, after having applied for a connection on 22nd Jan! I live in Belapur, Navi Mumbai, so stuff takes time around here! However, after the router was installed, the technicians were unable to access it via its IP in IE. Neither the USB, nor the Ethernet work. The LAN is displayed as connected (100 Mbps), but the status is always: "Acquiring Network Address...". The IP Address, Gateway address are: 0.0.0.0. I am using Windows XP with SP2 installed. I have a Realtek ethernet card, and a D-Link 502T router. I uninstalled TCP/IP v6, but that didn't help. Does anybody know what the problem is?Thanks!

The power LED is on, Status is blinking, ADSL, Ethernet and USB lights are on.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Seems ur MS windows installation is corrupted...Try to go to a friend's house, connect the modem using only LAN cable, power it on and try to access 192.168.1.1If u still cant access the configuration page, try hard resetting the router by pressing the microswitch near the power socket for 10 secs with the power on condition...If u still can't access it, ask the mtnl guys to replace it... :D

YES!It works! It works!I started fooling around with the settings, and though the MTNL guys had distinctly told me to set the IP and DNS addresses to automatic, I specified them manually, and voila!, my connection is up and running! Hoorray!I'm getting speeds of 20-35 KB/s so far...How do my speeds compare to you guys?Yaaay again!!!

wildthing, i'm getting an average speed of 24-25 kBps...and i've hardly experienced those speed bursts... :(

and btw, do save ur "config" before doing any R&D with the router and before u've to do that hard reset (factory default) as agnivo said...else, u'll be in deep mess (wanted to use some other word, but our mod) ;)

how to do that??? here it is...

go to http://192.168.1.1 (if u've not changed the router address manually, it's the default)...then "Tools" and then "System"...on this page, press on the "Save" button and save that "config" file to wherever u wish, but do remember the place where u've saved, so the easiest is save it on the "desktop" so that it's always handy...and i hope i don't need to tell u how to reload the "config" in case u mess it up...

enjoy ur broadband connection :D finally!!!! ;)

Sorry Shushubh...Thanks for pointing it out!Coolbuddy, my average speed is around 24 KB/s...it just sometimes goes up to 28-30 KB/s for a few seconds! Top speed (for 1 sec) so far - 31 KB/s. So we're still in the same boat! Thanks for the advice on the settings backup!

Hmm...BSNL is damn generous sometimes.I get upto 98KBps sometimes on a 32KBps connection... :DMTNL should be a little generous too ! :lol:And what made ur router "talk" to the PC ?

Wow! 98 KB/s on a 32 KB/s! I wish I'd BSNL! Though the MTNL techies had told me to set the TCP/IP settings to 'Detect IP Address automatically...' and 'Detect DNS Server automatically', I set them manually. I used the IP address they'd given for the router, and set the IP address to one after that. Now, I could connect to the router. Then when I went to the router setup page, I saw the DNS Server address (I couldn't connect to the 'net at this point). After I manually set the DNS server too, I got connected!I have no idea why the router didn't detect the addresses automatically...Any ideas?

Hmm... I did see someone blogging that MTNL is giving away static IPs !I didn't believe that, but what u did implies what I think ! ???

i also heard about that IP thing (rather read in the newspaper)...don't really know if it's static...coz they can always think that the customers are fool and they can talk about dynamic IP, rather than a static one in the ad... :p
