Hi all, i recently got MTNL wifi HG520 modem . I connected my pc with ethernet cable and want to use on laptop with wifi. My laptop is having windows vista Home premium. I am able to use internet without any problems in pc but not able to open any site or download anything in laptop. Laptop connects my skype fine but other than that, no site is opening , tried various DNS servers, settings but unable to solve problem. Please help!! By the way i am able to use wifi internet on my N82 flawlessly!

@apurvgupta1 Try changing the MTU to either 1400, 1492, 1500 (u will have to experiment a bit). Do this on your WiFi router as well as on your computer (use Drtcp to change on your computer). Also try out OpenDNS or DNS Advantage for DNS addresses.

Sorry, that didn't solve my problem, in my lappy it shows as connected to wireless network but no site is opening. I tried to change security settings to WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, unsecured on both laptop and modem but still no results!

it is stange that you are able to connect via skype but not able to surf the web. Alternate solutions - 1. Are you able to ping any site from your laptop.... if yes then check step 22. Check whether you are using any proxy in your web server. (Usually happens since laptops are used in office/college networks which uses proxy and which needs to be disabled for home use)3. Check whether the laptop is working with an ethernet connection.

1. not able to ping any site
2. i m not using any proxy i checkd.
3. Laptop is working fine with an ethernet connection.

@socrates, I have tried disabling the firewall to off but problem still remains.
Also a thing i have noticed that as i enter in the DNS server addresses in wireless connection properties and click ok and restart the lappy, the DNS server address doesn't appear on restart, they remain empty even after saving!

Even if you switch off the router , will show available wireless
network connections secured /unsecured in range.
3. Laptop is working fine with an ethernet connection

1.Post IP config /all data of laptop
2.
