During my recent ride, the driver was not happy with this move. He said that he prefered online payments as he did not have to deal with customers who might not pay. Though I am guessing Uber must have some system in place to prevent abuse of the system. He also said that the company has given them documentation on cash payments which means that Delhi is likely to get this option in the near future.

Santillo said Uber ran background checks of "hundreds" of California taxi drivers and uncovered convictions for drunken driving, rape, attempted murder, child abuse and violence.

The two California district attorneys settled a similar lawsuit with Uber competitor Lyft last year. Lyft agreed to pay $250,000 and to stop claiming its background checks were among the best in the industry.
