Type ii modem setup for multiple users

I am from Trichur, Kerala. I was trying to change my modem from Type I to Type II modem. but BSNL is unable to help me to configure the modem to use for my two PCs. i can use the modem to connect only one computer, i am unable to connect the second computer to the net simultaneously. Then what is the use of having multiple ports on the Modem itself ? Do i have to buy a router to share the internet for two computers ? Can someone help me how to setup the type II modem to connect two computers to the net.thanksshan

modems with 4 ports are either type III or type IV.
