Trying to replace Airtel router with my own- PPPoE problem?

Yes, in your case it is, I was pointing out in mine.

The speed over 5Ghz wifi should be better too, my Nexus 4 over 5Ghz, does the same speeds as below on my wireless n300 Netgear router

Sorry but i don't have a spare ethernet wire now so i can't test it.

I think the issue is in the pppoe client.
 
I am sorry but your setup though similar, is also vastly different than mine, both your router and ONT are different models. I am out of ideas as to what can be stopping your laptop going pppoe over the alcatel.

The issue shouldn't be the pppoe client, what version of Windows do you have?
 
I can do direct pppoe from my system no issues, remember my binatone router that airtel gave me is bridged but vlan tagged. I can also hookup directly to the alcatel ONT and used VLAN ID 1910 on my desktop and go online that way too. No point for me as the alcatel has a 100Mb port, will not make any difference in my case.
 
can you recall the steps so i can try setting it up again ?
