Tremendous ping time in Hathway ! ?

I am having Hathway 64 kbps Level 5 plan. Its unlimited. And Price is Rs. 1632 for 3 months... I am in Chennai (kotturpuram). Today I found an amazing turnaround in ping time ! Usually for the past 2 years its in the range 300+ ms to ICC. ICC is Internet Chess Club. We can find ping time to ICC using their interface. Today ping time was arond 280 ms. This was never achieved before ! I already got BSNL home 500 plan because I was fed up with frequent down time with hathway.... but I felt sad when I saw this good ping time 🙁 Any major upgrade in their service or did they buy some extra bandwidth to achieve this improvement? But I didnt test the download or browsing speed.... and I think browsing speed looks more or less the same.....
 
i am pretty sure that bandwidth has little to do with ping times. 🙂

yeah i agree but what could be the reason for it ?
 
may b dns server is oiled this time...lol...btw asked them does they provide modem internet..as they do in mumbai and bangalore...we pay 1100 per month for 256kbps......no download limit.........
