Trai blocks Airtel, Vodafone Idea premium plans, says may affect service quality of others

While it would be easier for airtel to remove word PRIORITY network in their offering but it is really a big headache for vodafone which was milking it's HNI postpaid customers with 1099 redX offering. They will have to remove this plan all together or give some thing really solid to supliment priority speed

True, since for Airtel it will be easy to simply drop platinum "PRIORITY 4G" cause I never felt much difference when I was using Airtel 😂.

But Vodafone-Idea will have too either shift to normal plans or compensate with something very strong which should give customer a reason not to leave REDX 😅 else we all know the condition of company.

Trai has asked very valid questions like without building additional capacity in the network how can you offerr such plans at the cost of detoriated service to other users. Means if somebody offers more money then you are soiling basic service quality of rest to catar to piorirty customers.

So now telcos will have to build additional capacity on thier network and prove trai technically and also publish gaurentee speeds to customers OR they will have to remove this offering. Seems like ventilator on voda idea mouth is removed by this trai move. With loosing subscriber and no significant revenue models it is more difficult for company to survive

Well done. They shoud increase the tariffs little .
Witout slowing speed and slowing responce how can they give higher speed?
OR
they should promise like 60-80 mbps.
Airel always try to loot customers.

4G operators will never guarantee speeds.
Not only in India but anywhere in the world, because wireless has multiple factors when it comes to performance.
So anyone with a right mind will never ask a speed guarantee. It looks like trai is perfectly adhering to mota bhai's orders.
They're not looking into the net neutrality and random blocks as jio is the one which often does that.

@vignesh_venkatesan you started on good note but took the conversation in wrong direction. Rs Sharma is go by rule book man MOSTLY. he understand ground challenges of telco and also keeps customers interest in mind. I am bit disappointed that his tenure is coming to an end.

Now understand the hogwash and cheating vil was doing since 6 months with this plan. Basically you cannot differentiate speeds on 4g network and sell different plan at the cost of general masses since it is against trai guideliness. You have to spicify GAURENTEED speed so to make customer crystal clear on ehat he is opting. redX plan had no mention of it. So it is illegal in india. Second to offer such plan one has to build extra capacity on its network to prove that he has extra capacity to service all with basic QoS and some additional for high paying customers. Trai knows that such capcity is not available with telcos currently.

Mota bhai has nothing to do in this sidne jio also once became victim of iuc charges in Nov last year which was against jio. Jio had to hence forth starting charging it's customer 6 paise to cut down on its losses. It even broken promise of free calls commited by Mota bhai during launch. Can you imagine this happening ever with Mota bhai.

Victim... lol...

A victim who is so lucky & foresightful....

Everything is falling in to place.... so smoothly.....

While others with experience of decades & even experience in International market are on verge of bankruptcy....

I have no doubt that Khota bhai can replicate this success even in US, if Gobi ji wins election and becomes President there..../s

R S sharma is man of rule book. My foot. He was the one who stayed blind when Mota bhai ran prolonged free trial and then offered dirt cheap. Now suddenly when Mota bhai wants to increase price, he wakes up and starts working on floor pricing.

Redx offered better speeds, one of the forum members experienced it. @Rehan Kumar it was. And guaranteed speed? Really have you checked jio's speed? Have you checked jio fiber's upload speed?

When Mota bhai was not getting postpaid revenue or higher paying customer he does this. Now be ready Mota bhai is going to launch more postpaid plans soon.

Great move, Instead of reducing the regular users speed they should add separate towers in-conjunction with the regular towers. So that the platinum users will get connected to these exclusive towers and enjoy services without over-saturation.

@minuteman Yeah but that's very difficult to implement, mainly very expensive to deploy new towers for the sake postpaid customers, also it's very troublesome processes to install new towers .due to the local protests and all . Also postpaid customers are very less as compared to the prepaid ones for for every operator .

I have not read the DOT guidelines. But in some countries like USA its allowed (legal) to differentiate 4G speed (and even companies do) depends on customer opting for the respective plan.

Take example of T-Mobile in USA, they offer better speeds for the people who opt for expensive plans but it claims during "congestion time" rest of the time the speeds are same.
