The Supporters follows the fictional characters Derek and Dale who have dived deep down the Trump-MAGA-Fox News rabbit hole. Derek and Dale are hosts of a podcast which they call The Derek and Dale Show. During the 2020 election the MAGA podcasters aspire to have their own show on Fox News, but after being flatly rejected by Fox News security, they embark on a mission to prove themselves as worthy journalists. Derek and Dale look to Trump's "Art of the Deal" and seek to follow Trump's rules for success in the book to ensure "The Derek and Dale Show" makes it to primetime. Derek and Dale travel the country going to political rallies and events, interacting with politicians and talking with Trump supporters. Derek and Dale interact with Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren, to name a few. Filming took place during the pandemic and even during the insurrection on January 6th in Washington.
