MUMBAI: Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (Tdsat) has asked both Maran brothers and MK Azhagiri, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, to settle their cable distribution dispute.
Tdsat chairman Justice Arun Kumar directed Azhagiri’s multi system operator (MSO) Royal Cable Vision (RCV) and Maran brothers-owned Channel Plus to hold a meeting on 22 July, PTI reported.
"If necessary, further meetings may be held by mutual consent," Kumar said. Tdsat also issued notices to Channel Plus and Sumangali Cable Vision (SCV), MSO arm of the Maran family- owned Sun TV Group.
The Tdsat direction came over a fresh petition filed by RCV against Channel Plus and SCV, PTI reported. RCV has alleged that despite furnishing information regarding list of its cable operators and other details, Channel Plus was not giving signals of Sun TV.
They further alleged that Channel Plus neither responded to their request for joint survey of localities or to negotiate over subscriber base and number of cable operators.
RCV also alleged that since the Maran brothers-owned MSO, SCV was a single operator in Madurai area and they wanted to retain their monopoly in the area.
