Although Main news is different, the useful information for Tata Sky users is that

Home-grown DTH majors DISHTV and Tata Sky are meanwhile beefing up their portfolio of channels with additional transponders in the face on competition. While Tata Sky is likely to be accommodated on one of ISRO’s forthcoming satellites with Ku-band capacity – possibly GSAT-6/ INSAT-4E, Dish TV has plans to double its transponders with an additional 14. This space will be available to Dish when its sister company Agrani’s part-owned satellite, ProtoStar-1, is launched towards end-July.

Some good news for TATASKY I hope! (after mentioned satellite successfully launched)

When is Insat 4E going to be launched? Tomorrow?

GSAT-6/INSAT-4E
GSAT-6/INSAT-4E will carry digital multimedia broadcasting payload. The satellite will cover the whole of India through five S-band spot beams using SXC and CXS transponders. The C-band coverage for the feeder link will have India coverage. The satellite is planned to be launched during the second quarter of 2008-09 by GSLV

is it possible with Insat 4E??? :rofl:check these also

GSAT-7/INSAT-4F
GSAT-7/INSAT-4F is proposed as a multi-band satellite carrying payloads in UHF,
S-band, C-band and Ku-band.It is planned to be launched during 2009-10 by GSLV.

GSAT-8/INSAT-4G(may be this one will help Tata Sky)
GSAT-8/INSAT-4G is proposed as a Ku-band satellite carrying 18 transponders similar to that of INSAT-4A and INSAT-4B. It will also carry 2 BSS transponders and a GAGAN payload. The satellite is expected to be launched during 2008-09.

Seems like we will have to wait for 2009 for some (hopefully) good news about transponders.

One doubt, If they are launching a new satellite, and Tata is going to use them, how can we receive the channels from that satellite using the same dish,At that time Tata will force us all to get a bigger dish at a cost higher than the actual..Another money making move by Tata Sky..If this happens I'm sure the popular channels will move to New Satellite..:hysterical:

We can receive signals from same dish if satellite located at same orbital position. Currently DISH+DD Direct Plus can be received by small dish in India due to satellites located near orbital location.
SKY in UK operates from 3 satellites and signals from all can be received by small Ku band dish.

Tata Sky users have no other job than dreaming.
Dreaming is free with TATASKY, its not coming under any add-on pack :hysterical: so... you too can try it...
