Tata Sky partners Hindi GECs to launch clone HD channel services | TelevisionPost.com
Direct-to-home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has launched a new high definition (HD) service called +1 that will allow its subscribers to watch their favourite shows twice or catch it up after s/he has missed it by an hour.
+1 will be the same as an HD channel, except that the service will run with a one-hour delay. For example, if a particular show airs at 8 pm on an HD channel, the +1 HD channel will air the same show with a one-hour delay at 9 pm.
+1 services can be viewed upon subscribing to the respective HD a la carte at applicable rates. Ultra Plus HD and Ultra Plus South HD customers will enjoy these services as part of their subscription.

I had seen similar services by channel providers in UK. Except BBC GEC, all other channels, mostly GEC, had +1 channels which ran same content with 1 hour delay from main channel.
Although now people can watch TV shows on YouTube or other OTT services like Hotstar, VOOT, etc, such +1 services may prove waste of bandwidth eventually.

Just was discussing with one my friend on this +1 service, eventually it is to get back those who are actually moving away from TV and watching on YouTube, Hotstar and Voot, broadcasters also agreeing as the AD revenue on TV is reducing day by day.

In India, that may be plan, by starting +1 channels, so customers can watch TV.
But such +1 service existed in UK for more then 10 years, at that time surely OTT/Online TV did not exist, or was not very popular like now.

For example, if a particular show airs at 8 pm on an HD channel, the +1 HD channel will air the same content with a one-hour delay at 9 pm.
Tata Sky had launched +1 services with Colors, Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Zee TV in August 2016. The +1 channels were first launched with HD channels, followed by SD channels.
The DTH operator will launch Star Plus +1, Star Plus HD +1, Star Gold +1 and Star Gold HD +1.
With the launch of Star Plus and Star Gold +1 services in SD and HD, Tata Sky will have 13 +1 services.
