Tata Indicom 4mbps NU
I am thinking of moving to 4 mbps plan, after my current plan expires by this month end. So for that I want to know what is the max speed you can get with it? Is it worth trying by paying more? I am currently getting near 230-235 KBps in 2 mbps plan. So the increase should be significant. Please post your reviews (especially Pune).

I get consistent speeds of 470+ kB/s in private tracker torrents with enough seeds. I'm in Mumbai. I imagine it's the same in Pune. On weekend nights (Saturday, Sunday), sometimes the max speed is limited to 270 kB/s till 11 PM, but other than that, the service is pretty reliable.

^^ Thanks for your reply. I hope that same case is also in Pune 😀. Still waiting for somebody's reply from Pune!!

Don't have that plan in Delhi now. Those plan are "Super Quick" plans (4Mbps) rather than "Quick power" (2 Mbps) plans. Delhi has witnessed forceful conversion to Wi-Max & soon other places ( inc pune) too will see this as tata plans to wi-max all its operations. Enjoy while u can in 4 Mbps.Crappy highly fluctuating speeds(DL/UL), blocked ports ... I am really pissed off by this. 😡 😡😡TATA Exec reading this post : "Wake UP ! Tech is supposed to improve & get cheap but it seems u r on wrong side of the highway ! Get ur act together soon "Max speed as per them is 1 Mbps on Wi-Max. Come on do i need to remind that Wi-max should handle 72Mbps for 30Miles (50 kms) in ideal circumstances .. not asking that much but a decent speed.Heck .. comcast in US gives me a better always on unlimited 16 Mbps with no port blocking & no download limits. I usually get 800+ kBps on torrents. Learn from them !

Well i guess they can handle more speed than 1Mbps. Proof is in my signature. I got a WiMax connection and Don't ask me how i get it. But yes WiMax can handle high speeds as stated by you.

@Notam: Don't test against Mumbai server, it gives misleading results... test with some European or Japanese (or US best) server to get a real idea...

This plan looks pretty good, although I'd still prefer FTP'ing @ 700 Rs p.m than pay 6000..

I have converted to 4 mbps plan for period of 1 month (Super Quick 75). I will test the connection speed for few days. If I find it to be constant, I will continue, else will be back to 2 mbps.On first day I am able to get max 410 KBps on torrents and 430 KBps on HTTP downloads. But for few seconds speed slows down to ~350 KBps and then again back to max.

Cheers for good speed @sandy84 :thumb:Regarding speed its a very relative term as it's as fast as the slowest bandwidth starved server & hops, guess it sucks in delhi is what i can say. I know it can be more but "official plans" of wi-max in delhi region are 1 Mbps, even the new plans that i see "Night Booster 4x speed from 11PM till 8 AM" states max 1 Mbps.Makes me wonder r they tampering /going to with 9to9 plans as well 😱@Notam: I saw some boost but not as what ur sig shows. R u doing hanky-panky. Plz PM me ... i wanna do it too, Count me as ready test lab. My skype quality & remote logins are suffering these days. 😉

3.85+ mbps speed confirmed. all torrents however do not work. if u have a lan cable coming to your house, then port forwarding is a problem.with pvt torrents and disabling DHT u can get full throttle on TATA
