Tariff face-off: now, Tata Indicom cuts rates

New Delhi: With the competition becoming intense in the telecom sectors, the tariff is touching new lows every day. Just after a day the public sector operator BSNL announced its new reduced tariff, Tata Indicom cuts its tariff and takes it to another milestone. Under the new scheme, one can make unlimited calls to another Tata Indicom customers free for a fixed monthly rental.
The service provider has introduced three new tariff plans for its post paid customers, which offers services like free calling to customers on its own network and low tariffs to that on other networks. The three plans introduced by the company are — Plan 450, Plan 275 and Plan 150. Under Plan 450, a customer will have to pay monthly rentals of Rs 450 and the company offers unlimited free STD calls and local calls to any Tata Indicom customers across India. Calls to customers on any other network in the Plan 450 would be charged at Re 1 per minute and 50 paise per minute for STD and local call respectively, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
In the Tata Indicom Plan 275, customers can make STD and local calls at 50 paise per minute to any number across India. In the plan 275 with monthly rental as the same amount, STD and local call charges would be flat 50 paise per minute. In the case of plan 150, call charges would be 90 paise per minute for both local and STD calls. In plan 150, the monthly rental will be Rs 100.
Vineet Bhatia, COO, Delhi and NCR said, “Introduction of these new plans doesn’t just intend to acquire new customers but has been designed keeping in mind growing customer needs and their usage patterns.” Tata Teleservices, which owns brand Tata Indicom operates in 19 circle and has over 25 million customers in the country.
