There was a discussion on SM about why students go abroad and the discussion was pretty shallow. For e.g. the two biggest courses for which most students emigrate abroad are either medicine or Engineering and both require a lot of hands-on experience. People probably on this forum understand what I mean, similarly, those who may have seen Rocket Boys also would have an idea of what I mean. The other thing is for medicine the number of seats in India is far limited and it is sadly by design. For e.g. a nephew of mine was supposed to go to Ukraine for learning medicine, he had been making plans. The same I saw in Gujarat, not a single good medical college or institution in Gujarat the last time I was there (this was just before the pandemic happened.) In fact, I saw this document which was viral almost everywhere. We were sending loads of kids to China to learn medicine there.
