Kicking off Stripe’s private beta in India

With Stripe Atlas, we’ve already been able to help some Indian entrepreneurs build and scale global companies. However, we believe that by operating locally in India—with the ability for Indian companies to connect their local bank accounts to Stripe and get paid out in rupees—we can help support even more businesses and more types of business models (such as local marketplaces) in the years to come.

On January 6, 2023, we will pause support for India-issued American Express (Amex) cards for Stripe India accounts. If you are a Stripe India user, you will not be able to accept India-issued Amex card payments from January 7, 2023. Amex cards issued outside India will continue to be supported and these payments will not be affected.

This change will happen automatically and no action is needed at your end. Any successful India-issued Amex card transactions made by your customers up to January 6, 2023 will be supported, and payouts will be made according to normal settlement processes and timelines. Refunds and disputes for transactions before this date will be supported until December 31, 2023.

India me dhandha paani esp with regards to accepting Payments Government and RBI ki whims pe chalta hai.
