It may be that all existing infrastructure of BSNL is sold to Jio at dirt cheap prices, so no mega dollar privatization deal needed, plus existing BSNL customers given the option of migrating to Jio mobile and Jio Fiber and in this way, Jio handsomely gains a large chunk of customers without making much effort.

So, my tax contribution FINALLY gives me and other Indian telecom customers some benefit instead of supporting those leech like BSNL/MTNL employees who demand ever increasing inflation linked wages with ZERO accountability for performance and customer satisfaction.

Yeah, it is about time these Govt. companies were privatised. These dinosaurs offer little relevance in the modern era.

There are a lots of shady work going on in the backdrop of every PSU. And that includes bribes going from every major contract to the minion to minister. You think privatization of bsnl will be clean???? Dream on brother. Whatever money the telcos will save buying BSNL's assets will go to politicians' pocket.

Well, bribes or not are a different matter bro and nobody here is dreaming. What is essential is this and other PSUs that have been draining the country's resources with their inefficient ways of functioning should be either streamlined or sold off.

We don't pay direct (and indirect) taxes to guarantee life-time employment to such Govt. employees especially when the public gets very little from them in return.

what will happen to customer who have paid their for the whole year(annual), will the money will be refunded??

Almost no chance of that happening IMO. These guys haven't even paid employee salaries and their creditors. I would strongly suggest all BSNL customers pay month to month even if it costs a little more over the year.

For e.g. BSNL gives approx 20-25% off on an annual land line plan when paid in advance. No chance I will do that. Rs 300/mth including GST is all that I will pay those bloody parasites.😡

Even if PSU employees who are at the helm of their organization want make a change, are not able to because of corruption at ministry level.

I'll give a very simple example regarding bsnl itself. Remember evdo which was launched by bsnl way back. The devices that were required in the back end had to be procured. So a tender was given out. The lowest bidder was some company registered in Hyderabad. It was a company known to provide bad hardware. But it was the company co owned by the relative of a certain cabinet minister. So even if the bsnl officials knew the hardware they were going to get was sub par, they were sitting ducks because a. the said company was the lowest bidder & b. it was owned by minister's relative. Hence the vedo service countrywide suffered because bsnl was forced to buy sub par equipment in huge quantities.
It happens in all PSUs. I know because I work in a PSU and I am facing similar problem in a project that I am currently working on. So I understand the problems faced by bsnl officials. I was just pointing that out.

@iwantfreeinternet Well that Hyderabad comapny you mentioned was lowest bidder and in all gov tender lowest bidder is selected so if some bsnl employee had went ahead and select some else rather then lowest bidder then he might be accused of corruption by cag or other gov body

whether that Hyderabad bidder was company of some minister is irrelevant one...

between lots of people are super dupper confident that JIO will get bsnl as if JIO/Reliance have unlimited money

First of all election season are goin to start i doubt BJP wold go ahead and sell it ....Modi knew what happened to ABV ......

Even if they like to sell that have to it open market bring tender and sell to highest bidder in which case voda/airtel can also participate and bid for same and eventually may win

Any private bidder would only participate when gov make sure they donot have to hire every current employee of bsnl

Ya, I understand what you are saying from an employee's point of view, because I have heard this from a BSNL person too, that their own people and sundry politicians are their company's worst enemies. So my answer to that lady was "But then when you signed up to be a PSU employee..ostensibly for "guaranteed" job security and a retirement pension..you already knew the pros and cons, didn't you?" She only had a smile on her face.
Thing is, you gotta take the good with the bad. Most PSU employees have been getting a free ride at the expense of tax payers, and frankly, not contributing much in return.

What I feel bad about are PSU employees such as yourself who want to see a change but getting outnumbered by those who don't. You guys are swimming against the tide.

So if BSNL's bloated employee cost at 70% of revenues vs that of pvt sector companies at 5-8% is acceptable to someone in BSNL/MTNL a reality check and wake up call is in order. The faster this leech of a company (among other similar underperforming PSUs) is streamlined the better for the country. BSNL/MTNL employees need to be aware the era of trade unions, strikes and other socialistic activisms are history and rightfully so. There will be no free lunch..period. Pull your weight or you are out on your arse.

When this government is hell bent on privatizing even the profit-making PSUs like BPCL and CONCOR, who cares about BSNL. Simply shut down and sell the assets.

lol...... this is no rocket science.... Amb's are known for manipulating terms in their favour by their political clout.

No body is putting gun on your head and forcing you to work for BSNL/ MTNL......when you knowingly work for an inefficient & corrupt organisation, you are in collusion and should be ready to face consequences.
