It's Official: Spider-Man Enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe! - ComingSoon.net

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios officially announced today that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man! As such, Marvel Studios has also shifted its upcoming release calendar.

Under a new deal, a new Spider-Man will first appear in a currently-unspecified Marvel film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.

Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.

Is Drew Goddard Writing and Directing Spider-Man? - ComingSoon.net

The next big screen Spider-Man adventure appears to have found its director! According to Latino Review, Drew Goddard will both write and direct the upcoming reboot, which is to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Goddard is no stranger to either Marvel Studios or Sony Pictures. He was previously set at the showrunner on “Marvel’s Daredevil” before taking writing and directing duties on Sony’s previously-planned Sinister Six film.

Previous reports have indicated that we’ll get our first look at the new Spidey in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, set for release on May 6, 2016. He’ll then get his own solo film, written and directed by Goddard, set for release on July 28, 2017.

Key things to look for in the new series

  • No new origin story, Spidey exists from the beginning, taken as a given
  • New actor, probably an unknown, he will be specifically based in High School and they want him to be able to grow up into the role. The thought being if this works, Spidey can do multiple trilogies for years ala Harry Potter.
  • A major part of the first film will involve Spider- Man fighting Iron Man and then trying to pass the “audition” to join the Avengers
  • The first film will involved the Sinister Six coming together with the thought to later maybe spin them off.

So what happens to "Amazing" series?

Just read on Wikipedia, Amazing series is also being cancelled and altogether new actor will announced as Spider-man. It was because part 2 did not make much money.

it's also because the new spidey movie is being in collaboration with marvel who would want their own say in character selection considering spidey would become part of future avengers movies as well. 🙂

LOL how many spider man a single generation is supposed to remember?

Marvel should take back original spider man Tobey Maguire.

Spider-Man Director Frontrunners Revealed? - ComingSoon.net

A previous report mentioned that Drew Goddard might direct, but Deadline says they are hearing that a decision could be made by the end of next week from one of the following names: Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, 50/50); Ted Melfi (St. Vincent); Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect); John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Vacation); and Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite).

Spider-Man Frontrunners Screen-Test in Atlanta - ComingSoon.net

The other four hopefuls included: Judah Lewis (a relative newbie who will be seen in the Jean Marc-Vallee’s fall drama Demolition), Matthew Lintz (who will be seen with Adam Sandler in this summer’s Pixels), Charlie Plummer (who had a recurring gig on Boardwalk Empire), and Charlie Rowe (a British actor who appeared on Fox’s short-lived Red Band Society).

And he looks like a twin of Asa Butterfield who is mentioned earlier in this thread.
