Speed increase will only be for short term i guess, because jio will continue to add customers and the speed will keep on decreasing, until next auction comes!

Lol.. That is also true. But IMO it'll be better than airtel, VI atleast for a few years - since Jio has more Towers and capacity than other operators. By then we'll move on to 5G and a new game then.

But 5G spectrum needs to be allocated as well? So that also will need to be auctioned first.

They need 28k crore just to renew the existing spectrum. Furthermore they intend to buy 5G spectrum when it comes by. In my opinion, they won't go all crazy.

Airtel has already said they won't go for costly 700Mhz.

Don’t believe the media statements from airtel. They will buy 700Mhz spectrum or Jio will destroy Airtel - they will be out of the game.

Now that the base price is almost half of what it was 4 years ago, they would be stupid not to go for this band.

Mostly they would go for renewing the license and some minor spectrum purchase. Seems like no one wants to go for 700Mhz or lower end spectrum. Is it due to high base price by the govt this time too?
