Btw, how would u rate these Sony series of phones against Samsung/HTCs in the mid range budget say 15-20k? I have quite a few people in my contacts who always ask me about this price range, and i never am aware of this world of phones!

Ok, i didnt knew that, but what i meant was how do phones from manufacturers like Sony, Motorola fare in the 15-20k range? Beyond 20-23k without any doubts i suggest Samsung, HTC....but in this range, i have my doubts.

i think sony has some good models in the 15-20K range. a friend recently bought a sony model in this price range and he is pretty happy with it. the best dual core phone deal in india at the moment is from motorola i think. atrix 2 is priced at around 22-23K. samsung galaxy r seems to have disappeared from the market which makes it a pretty exciting deal.

There seems to be a void of good android phones in the 14-20k budget. the best option seems to be Sony's Xperia Neo V for 17.5k.Omnia W (SAMOLED screen) and Lumia 710 (with the same SoC) are both available ~14.5k and are pretty solid alternatives in that budget.I had thought that with the launch of newer phones, phones like LG Optimus 2x and Samsung Galaxy R would get pushed into the ~17k bracket. instead they seemed to have disappeared altogether.

i guess this is a good segment for nokia to target with tango devices. android devices are unlikely to be very good in this segment of the market.

I have a feeling they are not being aggressive enough. A tegra2 powered phone with a normal 4" LCD and 768mb of RAM would be very much possible in a 15k price band. Coupled with ICS, it would be a pretty smooth Android experience. hopefully, Sony does it. Samsung seems to be concentrating only on the lower and high end. Same with HTC.

google has clearly said that they are not pushing any of their philosophies through motorola. which is bad news frankly. and reports already claim that the company is working on selling the set top box division of motorola for around 2-3 billion dollars. this is another bad news. a lot of peeps were expecting google to use this particular division of motorola to push google tv based devices and other home appliances based on google android platform. sony is the only hope in the mid-sized segment considering they are struggling to compete against samsung and htc in the top end segment.
