After Movies OK by STAR and &Pictures by Zee, Sony also planning to launch another movie channel probably named as MAX 2. Also planning to launch 3rd GEC after Sony TV and SAB TV.MSM gets ready to max it with MAX 2
Its good news for movie buffs as Multi Screen Media’s (MSM) long awaited plan to launch one more movie channel is rolling along fine. And the unveiling of the new service is likely to be once both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and elections are wrapped up and done. Multi-system operators (MSOs) say they have been approached by the Sony Entertainment Network (led by TheOneAlliance team) to keep aside space on their networks for two channels by May-end- early-June. One of these according to MSOs is the movie channel which has been christened as MAX 2 while the other a GEC has not yet been given a name. The GEC is likely to work as a third flanking GEC to both Sony and SAB. And the management is introducing it to take advantage of the monetisation opportunities digitisation is expected to bring with it.

Sony MAX2 is currently under tests and is expected to launch within the next couple of weeks. A teaser campaign for the new channel goes live on its sister channels, Sony MAX, Sony Six and flagship channel Sony TV today during the Indian Premier League.
Sony MAX2 is being positioned as a “contemporary cinema” channel and will be targeted to a slightly older audience skewed towards men. It will broadcast a range of new and old films, with more action flicks. Sony MAX2′s tagline is ‘Jab Dekho Tab Naya’ (New, whenever you watch).

Yup. They might force that so that Hindi audience is forced to for this new channel.
 
I hope government make any law to broadcast at least 60% new content which was not broadcast on any Indian channel.
 
That will not be a problem at all. It will start airing all the new movies & stuff in this new channel & keep the old for reruns. Then they will launch Max 3 & keep 1 & 2 for reruns... and so on...

Damn these dubbed movied will be on this new useless channel also.
 
But on a serious note, makes me wonder whether they have enough content that warrants a second movie channel. I suspect its to try & retain the "movie" audience that gets lost due to IPL in Hindi telecast.
