Well there is noting like "cout" in pure c++ or "printf" in pure c.Both of these are library functions. You can have your own implementation of cout if you wish, just change the lirary that is used by linker.
Code will compile and work in either C/C++ compilation....Point is, Code that is C but not C++ is an ecxeption since by design C++ is supposed to be superset of C.
