Smartphone for around 10k

Friend is looking to buy one. Primary requirements are whatsapp and mail. He seems to be inclined towards canvas2 and xperia e. I suggested lumia 520.What say peeps?Brick-and-mortar only.

Is android a necessity? If not then Lumia 520 seems to be the best option available.Unless buying apps will be a problem, then go for Android.

Xperia E is shit ..don't go for it. And I don't think Sony Tipo is worth it too.
Basically you'll get micromax canvas 2 or phones with similar configs from other manufacturers like spice,lava etc etc.

Actually it runs in background in wp. But the way it runs is poor. It runs through media player. So that sucks. Also lot of GUI needs to be made,.

Does Windows phone has hotspot or tethering?
