Smartax Mt841 And Dataone Downloads

Hi, I have one SMARTAX MT841 and Dataone UL900 plan , I use the login through the modem , the problem is i get data transfer for 3- 4 min @ 25K - 30K and it falls to 0 , after 3-4 min it again starts . Modem never disconnects..sometimes i need to restart the modem again to start the data transfer. I have done the firmware upgrade i got from this forum..is there any new firmwares available..? ThanksSurej

@Surej , you should have given the firmware version number ...if modem never disconnects , does the data transfer resume by itself after a short duration ?

Firmware ver is MT841_V100R001C01B021SP03_20051223

It resumes data transfer by itself sometimes..I dont remember the old firmware ver.i doubt if it's due to the firmware upgrade ..

I understand that your problem is not due to "... 20051223 "firmware upgrade . (And donot go for a new upgrade which is in beta version .)Did you check for any changes in your network configuration ? sometimes the entries become corrupt ...And how are you connected ? thru LAN/USB ? LAN is better .Did you request BSNL to check the phone cable ? there can bea Leak/earthing problem .And problem at the Exchange is not ruled out .

I never changed any DNS or gateway IP's...only thing i did was changed modem firmware and made it autologinSurej

the network entries may become corrupt on their own !so pls check them once ... Assuming that you are usingwin XP & modem is connected thru LAN ; if your networkconfiguration is okay then either there is a earthing/Leakproblem in your phone cable or the problem may not beat your end . I'd suggest to call BSNL to check your Line .And if required give a written complaint at the Exchange .I am sure that your problem is not due to firmware upgrade .And if you require a previous firmware , I'll try to give a Linkfor it .

check for the following in your TCP/IP settings Local Area Connection -->Properties -->Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) -->Properties )Use following IP address :IP address 192.168.1.xxx {xxx = 2 to 255 any value}subnet mask 255.255.255.0Default gatway 192.168.1.1Preferred DNS 61.1.96.69 andAlternate DNS 61.1.96.71

I'd suggest to give a written complaint to BSNL for
your download problem .

and as I said earlier , new version is in beta stage &
found that it is not stable . And your current firmware
is a reliable one . However I try to find the previous
version and inform you if I find it .

However , you may contact Huawei India for the firmware .

hi seshu,my smartax mt841 modem's ethernet ports are not working. i have cross checked all the configurations. as last thing i am trying to redownload the firmware.but i couldnt get the firmware.my currect firmware version is V100R001C01B021SP01 dated on 19 jul 2005. could you plesae give me the link for this version of firmware ?Thanks in advance.

will the Preferred DNS & Alternate DNS be the same for all dataone users? For me they gave 192.168.1.1 for both P.DNS & A.DNS

@ new guy , one may use the modem/router's address
as the preferred DNS . Alternate DNS address can be
given as 61.1.96.69 or 61.1.96.71 .

However I'd suggest to use 61.1.96.69 as the
preferred DNS and 61.1.96.71 as Alternate DNS .

in a BSNL document , different DNS addresses are
given for East , South , West & North sides . But
I donot recommend that as the above values are
working all over India .
