@ mathew - I appreciate your effort to compare this with things you can buy in 15k. But that's kinda irrelevant here! Same logic can also be applied to getting internet for that matter..I do agree with your view on Negroponte's vision but I am not sure if we are here to make a "cheap computer". We are trying our best to reduce the cost and bring it under 10K and still give the best quality and performance. Maybe subsidizing the cost by tie-ups will be another option..
@admin - Yes, I am pretty aware of Infibeam's Phi tablet. They are clones of Chinese clones of Ipad. Based on the videos/reviews (of the chinese tablets) I've watched , they are good for emails/office applications etc., but fail misreably on watching streaming videos/high quality videos etc..And definitely can't have a high-res. TV out!
But therein lies the problem - if the target market can't or won't spend 10-15k on a computer, why/how would they spend the same on a device like this?
