Hi guys,
I guess its a bit of a futile exercise but nevertheless worth a try.
I wrote an email to one of the guys listed on the sifycorp website (Suchint Murali, Head, Customer Care) from the form listed here:
http://customercare.sify.com/contact.htm
If possible, it would be a good idea if some more people email the other guys in the list. Also, is there anything else we can do to wake them up?

Dear Sir,
Lately, there have been many complaints on forums across the internet regarding Sify's ignorance towards its Linux based dialer. There have been cases in some places, of people being denied access to the internet. They are given a message saying \"Please update to the latest client\" even when they are running the latest Linux based client provided by Sify.
Please let me know whether Sify will continue to support non-Windows operating systems in the near future as I will have interest in Sify broadband only so long as it does.
It is a bit sad that in the days where all internet service providers are stumbling over themselves to provide support for this increasingly popular operating system, Sify chooses to solely concentrate its attention on Windows users.
If development of dialers for alternate OSes is not feasible in your scheme of things then I and possibly some other developers, can write dialers if you provide us with the protocol specifications. The dialers obviously will be distributed under GPL.
Do note that release of your protocol specifications will not hamper security of your dialers in any way -- security through obscurity is never an effective scheme.
Regards,
Siddhesh

I guess it WAS futile 😉
