At one of my friends place (I have experienced it at my place) they subscribed to Dataone recently. Since they had a network LAN at their home they had assigned IP address for LAN. However frequent IP conflict pop-ups started coming when no two systems had been assigned the same IP. The most worrying part was when you click Network Neighbourhood (not always - randomly) you could see a huge number of systems there.Is it a known issue?Sandeep
 
I am not a dataone user. I can only suggest you that you install a good firewall like zone alarm and disable your netbios over tcp/ip, remove file & print sharing for your safeguard.
