Seagate 3TB HDD not getting detected by computer

What is the operating system to which you are connecting..most probably the boot type of seagate is GPT so it is not recognised by current operating system?

Windows 8 should recognise GPT..can you find that drive in Disk Management?

It shows it as a 128 GB drive. Tries to prepare it with GPT. Gives i/o error.

Use Segate SeaTools to check the drive's status. If a firmware update is required, it will let you know that as well.

Use EaseUS partion manager free version to change the boot as MBR..you can format it to NTFS then and it will work then.

Problem is that this is the replacement drive provided by Flipkart. First one showed exactly the same behavior.

Seagate website recommended installing this software to get the system to detect the 3TB HDD. Sadly, no use.




Diskpart.exe is also showing it as a 127GB HDD.
I just need to find out if the HDD is fine. I would sell it through OLX. :russianroulette:
