Saving e-mails to pc

Hi,I have a lot of important e-mails in my Yahoo account, how do I keep them all in a zipped file format or something similar and save to pc's hard drive? Thanks.
 
Download mozilla thunderbird, add your yahoo account, retrieve emails from POP.
 
Yup. Yahoo POP is not free. But there's an alternative called YPops which provides POP and SMTP access to Yahoo servers for free. But I doubt whether it still works as the last update of the software was released on March 2009.
