South Korea based tech giant Samsung has announced plans to showcase at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, their first prototypes of the mobile phones capable of supporting the HSDPA technology. HSDPA is High Speed Downlink Packet Access technology and many wireless carriers plan to adopt this technology in the coming months.

This phone is being developed in collaboration with the world’s largest mobile service provider Vodafone. The mobile companies would be able to apply HSDPA technology to third-generation Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) networks giving users the capability to download data at significantly faster speeds.
