The folks at GSM Arena unearthed photos of a GT-I9295 model (allegedly called the GS4 Active) sporting a bright red shell with black inserts at the top and bottom and a trio of physical buttons on its chin. If the results returned by the AnTuTu benchmark are to be believed, the phone's equipped with standard GS4 fixins: a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.9Ghz and an Adreno 320 GPU (aka, a Snapdragon 600 SoC) and a 1920 x 1080 display.

looks like rubberized casing to me with proper coverage on sensors and camera?

Same type of rubber case available for S4 as well.

Why do I feel that I saw this design on some other smartphone?

Lol.. Moreover this Active phone has an inferior camera hardware.

It's rumored to offer a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset, HD display, 8-megapixel rear camera and water-resistant protection. What's more, we're being told that this is just one of many Samsung devices on its way to the large GSM operator this year, accompanying the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3 Mini (oddly), Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Note 3.

Software buttons could have saved them so much hassle protecting the hardware buttons below the display.

Samsung's gone official with the Galaxy S 4 Active -- again, before its big UK launch event. With IP67 water and dust protection (it'll survive three feet of water for up to 30 minutes), as well as a 5-inch 1080p display, there's a 1.9GHz quad-core processor to do the heavy lifting. Alongside LTE radios and Android 4.2.2, the GS4 Active houses an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, while the front-facer will take shots up to two megapixels.

Featuring a 1.9 GHZ Quad-Core processor and 2,600mAh battery, the GALAXY S4 Active can handle the most intensive tasks with ease and precision. Striking color and stunning resolution on the device’s beautiful 5.0’’ Full HD TFT LCD screen (443 PPI) makes playing the newest games or watching hours of video easy on the eyes. And with ‘Glove Touch’, cold weather is no longer a problem since the touchscreen can be fully operated while wearing gloves. With an 8-megapixel rear camera, users can easily share their vivid experiences while on the go. Unique to the GALAXY S4 Active camera, ‘Aqua Mode’ can be used to increase visual quality and clarity for enhanced underwater images and video. The volume key located on the side of the device can be used as a camera key, allowing users to easily and quickly open the camera application to capture photo and video the moment it happens. Additionally, the camera transforms into a powerful LED flash light to assist in low-light and nighttime activities with a simple long press of the volume key.

This brings back the point of AT&T not covering the handset against water damage — despite the handset being touted as water resistant. Anyway, according to details coming from phoneArena, it looks like AT&T will soon be making some changes. It was said the carrier will be making one-time swaps for those with a Galaxy S 4 Active — even if the Liquid Damage Indicator is showing water damage.

So the phone is supposed to be water resistant but the warranties are not exactly covering it?
