the USSD code to factory data reset a Galaxy S3 is *2767*3855# can be triggered from browser like this:
this will hard reset the phone, no user confirmation needed... #samsung #fail

Reports also say that this is not unique to Galaxy S III. Multiple Samsung's Android devices have the same issue. Cannot wait for rogue websites to add this code to their web pages 😀

samsung is looking into the reports (as if it needs elaborate testing 😀 ). i guess updates would be rolled out soon enough considering the severity of the problem. microsoft would have been crucified if a bug in windows would have resulted in something similar.
