However, a new report has claimed that Google will terminate the Nexus line of smartphones and tablets next year. This information comes courtesy Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin, who has tweeted: "Nexus line by Google is over in 2015 😉 Yes - this line will be replaced by Play Edition (current name, it will be rebranded)."
Google already sells the Play Edition of devices in the US, offering devices with stock Android software without any added applications or software features. At present, the Google Experience range of devices includes Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Moto G smartphones, along with LG G Pad 8.3 tablet.
Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin does not have 100% correct record like evleaks for his news 🙂
But it still make sense for Google to shift focus from Nexus to "Play Edition"... Like Windows Phone 😛leasantry:

lol they might just shift to Motorolla completely by then 😛

Nexus has reputation of high end devices with prompt software updates at ridiculously low cost. Iam concerned whether they will kill off nexus brand and just have Play editions of flagships like they do now. Play editions of flagship cost the same as regular models.

Samsung probably does not like the Nexus program. Hurts them in the US market. Makes them look bad wrt software updates.

Google and Samsung agreeing to a 10 year patent licensing deal was good news for Android. But that might only be the tip of the iceberg. According to a report from Re/code the two are working together on a broader initiative that will bring the Samsung version of Android more inline with Google's vision. The talks appear to have started at CES following the reveal of Galaxy Tab Pro and Note Pro lines, which featured a new skin called Magazine UX. The interface was not only a dramatic departure from the familiar TouchWiz, but from the very core of Android itself. In fact, the panel-based home screen looks a lot more like Windows 8 than Mountain View's mobile OS. But Re/code's sources say that future Samsung devices will either feature a drastically scaled back version of Magazine UX or lose the interface all together. Obviously, keeping the Android experience as consistent as possible across devices and brands is good for Google, but it could also help Samsung, which is now looking at maintaining three different Android-based tablet skins.

So true, a friend (socrates) used a url shortner on a link as it was too long & he got banned for some days w/o even a warning/email/pm because it happened to be a site on the admin's blacklist. 💩 Result we lost a good/knowledgeable poster. 🙁 who now has not bothered to come back. 😛issed-off: Couple of days ago I posted a article about a mobile phone exploding in India, this thread was removed even though that link did not come from a banned site/url, I guess you are lucky that your threads started by you are allowed to exist. 🙂
@whoru007 Why such a long Disclaimer? 🙂

Ideally Google should only focus on making softwares (Android here), treat everyone in the alliance equally.
Well. Google does not really manufacture phones. Motorola was making phones sure but the software was being managed by the Motorola people and not Google. Moto G became the first phone recently to get direct support from Google with the launch of Play Edition.If Google had not launched the Nexus program, I am not sure how we would have enjoyed the new versions of Android at all. Google launching the update on all Google Play Edition devices in one go? Could be interesting.Google Play Editions look like a good compromise but bad news for someone like me because well... Nexus devices usually have simplicity that is missing from regular phones from the manufacturers.
